Set in the realm of Tortall, author Tamora Pierce once again will astound readers with her fearless heroines, life-threatening missions and slight aftertaste of romance. Protagonist Beka Cooper is a member of the "Provosts Guards," an organization based in her hometown of Corus that is devoted to preventing civil and political unrest. But when the Guards stumble across a counterfeiting scam that could ruin the entire economy of Tortall, the Guards have to make some tough decisions for the protection of the entire country.
