Don't drink the water...
What's the story?
David Dutton (Olyphant) is a sheriff working in the small town of Ogden Marsh, Iowa. One day, things start to go seriously wrong. People begin to act very oddly before committing violent acts against family and friends. Along with his wife Judy (Mitchell) and a few friends, David soon realizes that a disease is traveling through the town's only water source, meaning that almost everyone in the town is affected. With everyone forced to evacuate their homes, the military starts killing every known person with the “Crazies,” and then moves on to killing the healthy people as well. Can David and his friends get away from the Crazies and the trigger-happy military? Or will they become diseased themselves and turn into Crazies?
Why see it?
This is a great re-make of the 1973 movie of the same title. Simple and complex at the same time, the plotline is generally easy to follow, although some parts may take a bit more thinking to understand what's going on. Timothy Olyphant portrays the main character very well and makes it easy for moviegoers to relate to his role. While the movie is more gore than horror, there are a few scenes that will make you jump; but, in my opinion, it just makes the movie better. The Crazies is a movie that will keep you wondering what's going to happen to next, and the crazy ending is worth waiting for.
Problems?
This movie does include violent scenes filled with blood and gore - considering that the military goes around killing people - so it isn't recommended for younger viewers.
All in All:
A good remake filled with horror movie staples of blood, gore and action.
