Here's our list of 10 great movie rentals for those lazy summer days.

Waking up in the morning is so much more enjoyable when the sun’s warm rays shine through your window. But since summer is taking its sweet time to arrive, prime yourself for the upcoming season by kicking back and watching these fun films.
 

10. The Goonies (1985)

The Goonies is a classic flick about a bunch of little misfits seeking out a long-lost pirate treasure. Along the way, they run into a whole bunch of trouble, like ruthless criminals, losing treasure maps and befriending a monster, all while out in the bright, sunny light of summer.

 


9. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1985)


It’s the perfect in-class fantasy: What would you do if you skipped a day of school? If it includes driving a red Ferrari 250GT California Spyder, dining and dashing at fancy restaurants and joining in on one of the biggest parades of all time, then this classic ‘80s flick is sure to get you out of your school blues.

 


8. Jaws (1975)


Beaches, sand, sun, surf… and sharks. What more is there to summer? Despite the fact that this is a horror flick, the constant scenes of the beachfront and blazing heat are enough to make a person want to catch the next flight to California. (Going in the water is optional.)

 


7. Superbad (2007)


Two nerds, two hot girls and a limited amount of time to host the greatest party of their high-school careers. The essence of summer follows them no matter what happens, as their goal slowly disintegrates. Not to mention the millions of quotable quotes and priceless laugh-out-loud moments you’ll get from watching this one alone or with friends.

 


6. Caddyshack (1980)


The green, cascading pastures of the golf course will immediately send you into summer mode – even if you don’t play golf. Just add some super slapstick humour, rich old snobs, a psychotic groundskeeper, lazy caddies and a pesky gopher.

 


5. High School Musical 2 (2007)


Pools, hot tubs, beaches, bikinis, and good-looking people breaking out into choreographed numbers… say no more because it already feels like summer! Bring back this Disney classic and reconnect with some old favourite songs and characters while getting into a summer mood!

 


4. Dirty Dancing (1987)


This movie has it all: summer love blossoms at a holiday camp in the midst of summer vacation. Don’t forget to check off the extra boxes for some awesome dance moves, not to mention all the eye candy (ahem, Patrick Swayze shirtless)… but of course that’s not the only reason for watching this thoroughly entertaining movie!

 

3. Aquamarine (2006)


Set on location at a beach resort, two young girls find a mermaid in the club’s swimming pool! The plot thickens when the girls befriend their mythological acquaintance. The overall fun and outrageous theme of this film makes a person wish they could grow a tail.

 

2. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)


Four best friends who plan to stay connected as their lives start to move in different directions share a pair of second-hand pants that seem to fit every girl perfectly. These magical pants travel from one sun-drenched coast to another: from the endless blue seas and skies of Greece to the hot sandy beaches of Mexico to the California coast. During that summer, and the sharing of the pants, each girl experiences something that changes their lives in more ways than one. 

 


1. Adventureland (2009)


A pre-Ivy League student gets a reality check when his parents make him get a job for the summer before school. His days working at local theme park Adventureland are full of crazy park supervisors, broken kiddy rides and, let’s not forget, cliché summer love.
