Sometimes life does give you a second chance.
Rating: PG
Stars: Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon, Michelle Trachtenberg
What’s the story?
Mike O’Donnell (Perry) is a former high-school basketball star who throws away his college future to marry his high-school love Scarlett (Mann). Now, 20 years later, Mike O’Donnell is 37, has two kids and a marriage that’s falling apart. Living with his best friend, he reminisces about what his life could’ve been. After an encounter with a high-school janitor, he’s given a second chance and is magically reverted to the age of 17, and gets to start over.
Why see it?
Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!, Balls of Fury) stars as Ned, Mike’s high-school friend whose geeky personality adds a wonderfully hilarious element to the film. The film is geared towards Zac Efron fans, but still contains enough lighthearted humour that everyone can enjoy. 17 Again is a classic high-school comedy with a twist!
Problems?
If you’re not into simple high-school comedies, then 17 Again isn’t the movie for you. A few of the scenes are a little cheesy, but the movie uses clever and amusing comedy to balance out the clichéd scenes.
All in all:
You don’t necessarily have to be a Zac Efron fan to enjoy this fun comedic movie (but it certainly helps if you are!).
