What’s the story?
Based on Michael Lewis’ novel The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, this movie adaptation follows the true story of Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), an impoverished black teenager raised by a drug-addicted mother. When Leigh Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) and her husband Sean (Tim McGraw) see Michael wandering the streets on a cold night, she takes him into her home and he becomes a part of their family. With immense care and support from the Tuohy family, Michael is able to raise his 0.6 GPA to an incredible 2.5, allowing him to try out for the school’s football team. His incredible talent and remarkable strength is impressive, resulting in countless scholarship offers from universities all over the world. As the movie unfolds, you will get to see the relationship between the Tuohy family and Michael grow stronger and how his presence in their lives significantly affects them.

Why see it?
If you loved Sandra Bullock’s comedic performances in The Proposal and All about Steve, her dramatic performance in the portrayal of Leigh Tuohy will amaze you. It’s not a surprise that she received a Golden Globe for this role! The Blind Side isn’t filled with clichés that you often find in sports movies. As well, it doesn’t focus entirely on football; instead, it concentrates on the impact Michael has on the lives of the Tuohy family. This is an incredibly uplifting and inspiring movie that you definitely don’t want to miss.
