What's the story?
For super-dog Bolt (Travolta), life is an endless adventure that calls for his superlative strength and speed, heat vision, invincibility and ultra-sonic - at least until the cameras stop rolling. When the star of his self-titled hit television series is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood sound stage to New York City, he embarks on his biggest whirlwind of an adventure yet with two unlikely travel companions. Mittens (Essman) is an abandoned street cat who tries to break Bolt out of his delusions that his amazing feats are real, and Rhino (McDowell) is a TV-obsessed hamster. Intent on believing that his co-star and loving owner Penny (Cyrus) is actually kidnapped by the evil Dr. Calico (McDowell), Bolt discovers on the way that it's not superpowers that define a true hero.
Why see it?
Emerging straight from the studio that distributed classics such as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Enchanted among many others, Bolt is a family-friendly success. Featuring the talents of Disney sensation Miley Cyrus and Hollywood marvel John Travolta, the characters are well developed and mature audiences will appreciate the endless laughable innuendos.
Problems?
Those of you who aren't really into the hype of Disney's family-friendly fare should obviously pass on Bolt. Older audiences might find that the predictable storyline drags.
All in All:
A mix of excitement, heart-tugging sentiment and gentle comedy makes Bolt another unbelievable addition to Disney's repertoire.
