What's the story:
Annie's (Wiig) life is unravelling. Her boyfriend has left her, she's been kicked out of her apartment and she just lost her her job. In the midst of trying to piece her own life together, Annie must find a way to become the perfect maid of honour for her best friend Lillian (Rudolph) who just got engaged. Chaos and hilarity ensue as Annie leads bride-to-be, Lillian (Rudolph) and her wedding party on a wild ride that proves to be the female-cast equivalent of such comedies as The Hangover.
Why see it?
While most comedies seem to be male driven, Bridesmaids offers a strong, comedic, female cast that will still be appealing to males, with the same raunchy humour found in The Hangover. While the whole cast is brilliant in their comedic timing and depiction of their respective characters, Wiig (Saturday Night Live) shows she's most likely the funniest person in Hollywood - not only as an actress but as co-writer of this script! Bridesmaids is the perfect movie to see on a girls' night out or even on a date. Just be warned because it will leave you keeled over, gasping for air.
Problems?
If you couldn’t already tell, I absolutely loved the film. So as far as problems go, my only negative critique is, for those who are not fans of raunchy humour there is the occasional "that is absolutely disgusting" moment. But my advice? Stomach it, because it's worth it!
All in all:
A Hollywood goldmine of comedy.
