What’s the story?
Adapted from Judi Barret’s book of the same name, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs takes the audience on an entertaining journey of wannabe scientist Flint Lockwood's (Hader) misadventures through life. He wishes all his life to change the world but it just doesn't happen, and his junk pile of inventions grows higher and higher. So, when he finally makes a machine that can change the world, he is ecstatic and turns away from words of caution. But when things go wrong, can he still save the day before the world comes crashing down… in the form of spaghetti and meatballs?
Why see it?
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is a classic. The movie takes you back to grade 1, when your librarian first read it to the class, and you thought it was the most brilliant idea to rain meatballs. The 3-D effects are sensibly used in this movie and do not overwhelm the audience. It is a light, funny movie, with some very amusing characters – perfect for a day relaxing with friends.
Problems?
This is a very lighthearted and somewhat childish family movie. If you are looking for a profound dramatic movie, skip this one.
All in All:
A quirky, lighthearted film dotted with adventure – in 3D.
