A unique way to save a marriage...
What's the story?
In New York City, estranged couple Meryl (Parker) and Paul (Grant) accidentally witness a murder. After being discovered by the killer, they reluctantly allow themselves to be placed in a small rural town in Wyoming in a witness protection program. Under the care of the sheriff and his gun-loving wife, Meryl and Paul must learn to work out their problems while hiding from a professional hitman.
Why see it?
Fans of Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant will enjoy Did You Hear About the Morgans? as the two actors play their roles well and have very good chemistry together without acting too sappy. The movie should be enjoyable to a wide range of people because of its mix of comedy and mild suspense, while not being overly frightening. As well, while many scenes could be deemed cute and sweet, the movie manages to draw enough laughs that it does not become annoyingly cute.
Problems?
While the script is charming and cleverly written, it is also highly predictable and slow at times, so this could pose a problem for some viewers. Also, people who go into the theatre expecting some suspense and thrilling moments will probably be disappointed as the film centres more on Meryl and Paul solving their trust issues, rather than hiding from a killer.
All in All:
A decently funny film.
