Fame is back.
Rating: PG
Stars: Kay Panabaker, Asher Book, Kherington Payne
What’s the story?
Aspiring stars audition to become part of the New York Academy of Performing Arts, and quickly realize that the rise to stardom is not as easy as some first thought. With obstacles along the way, this film follows the paths of different people in search for, well, fame.
Why see it?
Fame is packed with great musical numbers and visuals. Fans of So You Think You Can Dance (season four’s Kherington Payne appears), as well as people who are just generally passionate about dance will be eager to see this film.
Problems?
While the latest version of the movie is good, personally, I think that the original is better. The plot is repetitive and bland, following the students through all four years at the school. Too many random scenes are spit into the movie, seemingly trying to fill in gaps, and the storyline follows too many students, making the movie confusing to follow.
All in all:
An inspiring and creative drama/musical.
