You simply can’t escape the fact that vampires have become the No. 1 cultural phenomenon today. Maybe it’s their ability to lure people with their eyes or their fangs... or more likely it’s movies like Twilight that have made people fall in love with them.
I recently had a chance to speak with Amy Paffrath, who has a role in a new web series called I Kissed A Vampire, which also features High School Musical star Lucas Grabeel and Another Cinderella Story’s Drew Seeley. Instead of the typical storyline, I Kissed a Vampire, which was released on iTunes on October 13th, is a new take on vampires. The web series follows the journey of Dylan Knight (Grabeel), who must balance his love life with his life as the living dead.
“The talent in this web series is just through the roof!” says Paffrath. “It’s so cool to be amongst really good talent. I got to dance and then we get to wear the fangs and it’s just really fun.”
So what does Paffrath think of the whole Twilight phenomenon? “I think it’s awesome. I love how Twilight is sort of dark, but it has an element of teen angst and love and it’s just got so many different storylines and themes going through it.”
But don’t call I Kissed a Vampire a Twilight wannabe. “It’s a musical comedy, so it’s not supposed to be Twilight, we’re not trying to be Twilight,” Paffrath explains. “I’m thrilled to be a part of it because the vampire craze is so huge right now, but this is a very different take on it. It was incredible, an incredible experience just to say the least.”
So be sure to check out I Kissed a Vampire on iTunes and add this show to your list alongside Twilight to satisfy your thirst for vampires!
