A creative tale on how five little words can change your life.
What’s the story?
Nerdy valedictorian Denis Cooverman (Rust) makes a move that most people would only dream of doing: he declares his love to the most popular girl in school, Beth Cooper (Panettiere), during his grad speech. Much to his surprise, Beth shows up at his house that night, which sets the wheels in motion for the best night of his life.
Why see it?
I love you, Beth Cooper is a funny and creative tale of love, friendship, betrayal and pain all started just by speaking your mind. In my opinion, both guys and gals will enjoy watching this flick. Although it is mostly a comedy, this movie includes something for everyone – romance, action, suspense and hilarious twists. Chris Columbus directs an incredible and outrageous cast that will crack you up with laughter with their funny jokes and gags.
Problems?
In general, this was a great movie, but it did start off a little bit too slowly for my tastes. As well, sometimes this movie comes off as a formulaic teen comedy, such as during the scene when a father figure gives some awkward personal advice – we’ve all seen that before. And finally, some people might find this movie a bit immature, but all the laughs are done in good fun.
All in all:
A hilarious tale that needs to be seen to be appreciated.
