All you need is just one little lie.
Rating: PG
Stars: Ricky Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Louis C.K., Jeffrey Tambor
What’s the story?
Mark Bellison (Gervais) has gone his whole life being told that he is a fat ugly loser. The hardest part about hearing this is he knows it’s the truth since he lives in a world where no one has the ability to lie. Then, one day after being evicted, fired and shot down by the girl of his dreams (Garner), Mark discovers he has a gift. He is the only human who has the ability to lie. The world that he hated for so long can become his, with just a few simple white lies, to make himself everything he’s always wanted to be.
Why see it?
British comedian Ricky Gervais (who co-directs and acts) plays the main character brilliantly and lives up to his status of comic genius. Meanwhile, Garner is absolutely adorable in this movie.
Problems?
While the film starts out extremely funny, it slowly turns to soul searching. Those who are only looking for a comedy should skip this film.
All in all: A decently entertaining movie.
