A scrawny teen tries his hand at vigilante justice – and pays the price!
What's the story?
Dave Lizewski (Johnson) is an average teenager who loves his comics. He is also the last guy you would expect to become a turquoise spandex-clad masked super hero who goes by the name of Kick-Ass. But after the unlikely becomes reality, and a Youtube video about his super-persona skyrockets to popularity, Dave finds himself becoming dangerously intertwined in a world of gang violence, leading him to come across Big Daddy (Cage) and his vigilante daughter called Hit Girl (Moretz).
Why see it?
Tired of being subjected to superhero movies with the same plot? Kick-Ass takes a fresh approach that packs a punch. Director Matthew Vaughn has cooked up a new recipe that is bound for box-office success: the characters are flawed yet loveable and the lines are delivered with believability (similar to Superbad). Kick-Ass keeps the energy pumping throughout the entire film and in between the heart-stopping action scenes, Mintz-Plasse and Moretz deliver some good laughs.
Problems?
If you aren’t one for gore, Kick-Ass will make your stomach squirm so it wouldn't be a good idea to check out this movie.
All in all:
A fast-paced, adrenaline-filled superhero movie with a refreshing twist.
