Land of the Lost

1 Star

Ferrell takes you on one twisted time warp.

Starring: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride
Rating: PG

What's the story?

After being laughed out of the science department for his theory of time warps, Dr. Rick Marshall (Ferrell) is reduced to working as a teacher at a museum until he meets Holly (Friel), a student from Cambridge University who is fascinated with his theories. She encourages him to create a tachyon amplifier to enable the time warps he studied years ago. They team up and go to Devils Cave, the place where the tachyons are found in large quantities. They hire Will (McBride) as a tour guide and head off into the Cave to gather the information they need. Once they activate the amplifier, and losing it in the process, the three end up in a time warp where past, present and future come together in one place. Surrounded by ape men, dinosaurs and all the events we learn about in history class, the explorers must use all their knowledge and skills to get back home alive.

Why see it?
Fans of Will Ferrell will enjoy him as the zany Dr. Rick Marshall.

Problems?
It may look good as a trailer, but you probably won't be able to handle an hour and a half of Ferrell's bad jokes and sarcastic attitude. Loosely based on the original TV series, this movie isn't for you if you don't enjoy stupid-funny flicks. The special effects are mediocre and viewers are left with many "wow that was pointless" moments.

All in all?
Will Ferrell won't win an Oscar for this futuristic film.
