Paranormal Activity 2

4 Stars

An intense horror sequel that rivals the original.

Rating: 14A
Stars: Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Brian Boland, Sprague Grayden

What’s the story?
A family is shaken up after a supposed break-in tears apart their home. With only one necklace missing, the family members soon find themselves concerned for their safety. Fearful of another break-in, the father situates six security cameras throughout the house, effectively giving the audience many viewpoints of the demonic activities that take place. The mother soon becomes suspicious of what is going on under her roof, and the youngest child is constantly plagued by nightmares and strange occurrences inside of his room. As the negative energy grows thicker, the evil spirit becomes stronger. The father determinedly remains in denial about what is really going on and the mother becomes more and more afraid. Soon, the demon has the upper hand. What will happen to this family as they try in vain to save themselves from a demon that is set on getting what is his?

Why see it?

This film was created for one sole purpose: to make you flinch. If you enjoy being startled, then this is the movie for you. If you’d much rather watch some blood and guts, try a different movie, such as Saw 3D. This film also gets you thinking about what is real and what isn’t, so if you like to have your mind churning, make sure to watch this sequel.

Problems?

Although many of the scenes elicit terror, some are just plain boring. I mean, who’s scared of a flickering light or a moving pool pump? Also, if you look closely, there are some issues with continuity. If the director wanted this movie to be more believable,
he should’ve been more careful.

All in all:

A suspenseful horror sequel.

Great review

I've watched this film and all i can say is it really surpassed the first film. The building of suspense was really effective especially the little hints that something strange is going on that of course led to something drastic. I love how they tied the first and second parts together. You should watch the first part before watching the second part beacuse you'll be all confused just like my friends.

Surpass the first? I hope so.

If this film rivals the first, (which is not saying much) it may need to surpass the first with exceptional strength, to catch my attention.

Also, gotta' love the, 'Stars' in this movie; completely throws the realism out the window (if any was there to salvage in the first place).

Great review.
