What’s the story?
Taken off the streets and adopted as the third son of King Sharaman of Persia, Dastan’s (Gyllenhaal) life becomes that of a prince and warrior. After taking an attack on the city of Alamut into his own hands against his brother’s orders, Dastan gains possession of a mystical blade that, unbeknownst to him, can control time. After being unjustly accused of murdering his adopted father, Dastan flees with the beautiful and mysterious Princess Tamina (Arterton). They embark on a quest to clear his name, as well as to restore the balance of time and save the world from ultimate destruction.

Why see it?
Director Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean saga) have teamed up to make an action-packed movie that will leave fans wanting to see it again and again. Many of the exhilarating stunts in this movie are actually performed by Gyllenhaal himself, and provide the movie with even more excitement and action. Arterton and Gyllenhaal have great chemistry, and as the movie progresses you get to see the different sides of both characters – from tricky and witty to strong and passionate. Your eyes will be glued to the screen as snakes strike, swords clash, and the many secrets hidden within the sands of Persia are revealed. Prince of Persia provides comedy, action, adventure, romance, fantasy, and thrilling scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Problems?
Since this movie is based on the Prince of Persia video game, many people may think that they need to know the games to understand the movie – but this is not the case. This movie should appeal to many audiences, but those who are not interested in fantasy may not be as drawn to it.

All in all:
This movie will keep you wanting more from beginning to end.
