She’s Out of My League - BC Review

Can an Average Joe make a relationship with the woman of his dreams work?

Rating: 14A
Stars: Jay Baruchel, Alice Eve, Lindsay Sloane, Krysten Ritter, Jasika Nicole

What’s the story?

Kirk (Baruchel), an Average Joe, can’t believe his good fortune. While working at his tedious and boring job at airport security, he meets Molly (Eve), a young, successful and outrageously attractive girl who is actually attracted to him! Kirk is shocked, even more so than his friends and family. He must now find a way to make the relationship work even though he knows more then anyone else that Molly is out of his league.

Why see it?
This is a very funny comedy that can be enjoyed by almost any teenager. The chemistry between the main characters, Kirk and Molly, is convincing, which adds to the charm of this movie. A positive common theme seen throughout the movie is to have self-confidence, as Kirk, the Average Joe, constantly demoralizes himself while putting the love of his life on a pedestal that is almost impossible for him to reach.

Problems?
If you are not a fan of generic romantic comedies, don't watch She’s Out of My League. While the movie is extremely entertaining and humorous, most of the plot is very predictable – you will not leave the theatre surprised by anything that happens. Also, those who are not fans of crude sexual humour and swearing should not see this movie; the movie is full of swearing and sexual remarks.

All in all:
A very generic story of Beauty and the Geek.
