Shrek Forever After

4 stars

An entertaining adventure featuring our favourite green ogre.

Rating: PG
Stars: Antonio Banderas, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, John Cleese, Jon Hamm, Julie Andrews, Mike Myers and Walt Dohrn

What’s the story?

Shrek (Myers) is bored with his life and longs to feel like an ogre again. On the day of his kids’ birthday party, the villagers, his friends and even his wife, Fiona (Diaz), get on his nerves. Shrek wants his old life back. He wants to be chased by villagers with pitchforks and enjoy a mud bath by himself. But that isn’t happening is it? So when a mysterious man named Rumpelstiltskin (Dohrn) tricks Shrek into signing a contract that lets Shrek enjoy being an ogre for a day, complications ensue for Shrek as he is thrust into an alternate world of Far Far Away, where his faithful friends, Donkey (Murphy) and Puss in Boots (Banderas), as well as his one true love, Fiona, don’t know him. Shrek must find a way to break the contract before life as he knows it is over forever.

Why see it?
If you laughed throughout the first three Shrek movies, then Shrek Forever After is a movie you need to see. The greatest things about the movie are the lovely, hilarious and full of fun characters created by talented screenwriters Josh Klausner and Darren Lemke. Favourite characters with new personality twists are reintroduced, and the writers throw in a few fun new characters to shake up the cast. With a bit of fantasy, comedy, adventure, and romance making up this movie, it’s the perfect movie to watch with the family. Also make sure to take in the 3-D version of the film – it’s breathtakingly worth it! So go on, take your friends or family to Shrek Forever After and enjoy, laugh, and especially have fun!

Problems?
In my opinion, there is not a single problem with the film. However, if you don’t like “happily ever after” type of stories, then don’t watch Shrek Forever After – obviously, you know without having to ask that the movie will end well with everything falling into place for Shrek.

All in all:

The fourth Shrek movie doesn’t disappoint.

Awesome

I remember that I did not really enjoy the third movie of the Shrek series, but this movie fixes that! Also it looks great in 3-D and some scenes in the movie work fantastically with it. Totally worth the watch!
