Top 10 Scary Movies

Halloween is a time to scare and be scared. We visit haunted sights, psych out our friends and tell eerie stories. We watch movies that frighten and haunt us, movies that leave us with a feeling of unease or with the sense that we are being watched, movies that creep into our dreams when we sleep and visit us when we are alone – horror movies! And below is a list of the best of them – so pick one to watch this Halloween and prepare to get freaked out!

1. The Exorcist (1973)
The Exorcist paved the way for the demon possession movies of the ‘70s and ‘80s. It follows the story of a young girl named Regan and how she deals with being possessed by the devil… and let’s just say she doesn’t handle it very well.

2. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Tina Grey has a nightmare and, unfortunately, it comes true. With the classic “scare”aracter Freddy Krueger, and a handful of memorable scenes, here’s a Halloween classic you cannot miss.

3. Halloween (1978)
This slasher flick is guaranteed to give you chills. It follows Mike Myers, a psychopathic killer escaping from his prison, as he goes on a brutal stalking spree. Enjoy.

4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

A bloodbath and mental horror film hailed as a classic by numerous critics. From the words “based on a true story” flashed at the beginning, to the rolling credits at the end, this movie is chock full of scare-your-pants-off scenes. An absolute must-watch this Halloween.

5. Saw (2004)

Add a demented mastermind, an extremely tough decision and a bunch of panicky people and you get Saw. One of the most frustrating, nail-bighting psychological thrillers you will ever see.

6. 28 Days Later (2002)
This is an apocalyptic thinker that will make you worry about your future. Set at the turn of the century, it deals with a worldwide epidemic that ruins the life of the entire planet.

7. The Blair Witch Project (1999)
This is a mockumentary about some poor teens who really didn’t believe in the Blair Witch. So they decided to test the witch… little did they know that they would never be seen again. I don’t suggest watching this one alone.

8. The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
The Hills Have Eyes is the original cannibalistic horror film about a new “species” of humans tormenting an innocent family on vacation. It truly does suck to be them.

9. The Ring (2002)
The Ring is a horrifying movie that will leave you guessing and shouting until the end. The Ring follows the story of a haunted videotape that kills you seven days after watching it. A must-see.

10. The Omen (2006)
Satan is on the earth – as a child – and this child can do some crazy stuff! This apocalyptic thriller should be seen by all who have seen The Exorcist because it answers the question “What would have happened if the devil never left Regan?”
