There’s an App for That: iProcrastinate Mobile for iPhone Review

4 stars

App: iProcrastinate Mobile
Developer: Craig Otis
Size: 266 KB
Price: FREE

So, you have a unit exam on Friday, an essay due on Tuesday, a chemistry lab on Monday, and you have to read the first three acts of a Shakespeare play by Wednesday. How are you going to keep track of it all? For some, these assignments are recorded carefully in the student agenda that the school provides us with. But what if you lose it or don’t like carrying a big agenda everywhere? That is where your iPhone or iPod Touch and the iProcrastinate Mobile application come in!

It is a simple app, and doesn’t have any fancy features that would make it frustrating to use or take up a lot of memory. It simply keeps track of your class subjects and the tasks or assignments within those subjects. All on something that you already carry around every day! You can even add steps within a certain task, for lengthier and more complicated projects, and add team members to a task to keep track of your group members’ phone numbers and email addresses. You can add a "Smart Group" for managing certain tasks that are due within a certain time range or tasks from selected subjects. For example, if you wanted to see all the tasks that are due within the week at once, you can create a Smart Group to do that; same if you wanted to see tasks from all your first semester classes. There is also a desktop version that you can download.

Sounds great, right? Well, don’t get too excited. While iProcrastinate Mobile is a handy app for your iPod Touch or iPhone, the desktop version is available for Macs only, and you can’t sync your desktop version with your mobile version. Also, the team members who you add to projects have to be on your contact list on your iPod or iPhone.

Since even the Macs-only version doesn’t sync with the iPod version, I’m only giving this app four stars out of five.
