The truth might not be very pretty, but it’s far from ugly.
What's the story:
Abby (Heigl) is a morning TV show producer, who just can’t seem to find Mr. Right. In comes Mike (Butler), a newbie correspondent for a TV series called The Ugly Truth. Mike knows what men and women want so he willingly helps Abby find the perfect man. As time passes by Abby may have found out Mr. Right has been the one standing in front of her the whole time.
Why see it?
It may not be the perfect movie but Heigl and Butler make it work with their charm, wit and chemistry. There’s lots of comedy as I found myself laughing hysterically from slightly crude but hysterical gags, to scene stealing comedy by Butler. Not only is he funny, but shockingly true with his perceptions of what men and women want.
Problems?
Despite how funny and welcoming the movie is, if you go in expecting another Heigl rom/com like 27 Dresses you will be disappointed. Found within some of the humor there are sexist messages being tossed around, which might frustrate and offend some people. The message of being who you are, and that the people who care about you are who matter the most, gets lost in all the racy and profane content.
All in all:
Heigl & Butler turn what could have been a predictable and average rom/com into something that’s often funny, refreshing and entertaining.
Predictable Movie
I found that the "Ugly Truth" was definitely one of those movies that you can figure out before you even watch it. It did have surprising moments as I was not expecting the amount of crude humour it possessed but overall it did have some seriously funny moments I agree with you on that!
Awsome Movie
This movie was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It kept me laughing the whole time I was watching it. My friend and I still make remarks from the movie. It's a dirty movie but one that keeps you laughing.
I'm not such a big fan of
I'm not such a big fan of Katherine Heigl, but I will see Gerard Butler in absolutely anything! I didn't find the movie exceptionally amazing, but it did elicit a few laughs all the same.
