What’s the story?
Born into a family of Royalty, the young Victoria soon learns that she is nearer to the crown than she anticipated. Her uncle, King Leopold decides to pair her up with Albert, a man who is passionate about helping those less fortunate and who helps her mend the trouble she will cause. First, what started out to be a task to get Lady Victoria to fall in love with him so that King Leopold could regain power, turns into a love that is stronger than anyone could imagine. However, Lord Melbourne is competing for Victoria’s heart as well. And Victoria, trusting his advice, tried to overturn the government, which caused a riot with the public. Moreover, with the passing of her beloved uncle King William, she becomes free of her mother’s hold on her and gains possession of the title Queen of England. After becoming engaged to Prince Albert, the two find a way to help each other and share the role of Royalty and the two reigns England together for 20 years.

Why see it?
Based on the story of the real Queen Victoria and her undying love for her husband Prince Albert, it is a strong heart touching story about love over anything else. Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend brilliantly play it. The actors will move you by their performance. Amazing cinematography and costumes that amazes the eyes. The designs on the costumes and props to the very last detail are eye catching. The film keeps you engaged through the entire movie. It never seizes to bore and grasps your attention from start to finish.

Problems?
If you are the person who is not fond of competition for ones love or having words for the beginning and end descriptions of what is or has happened, this film is not right for you. As well, when the film ended, it does not feel like it had been two hours, the ending could have had a bit more scenes afterwards, maybe showing when they find out that he has Typhoid during the end flashbacks. Younger viewers might not understand the background of the film or the inside jokes that are played with in the film.

All in all:
A passionate story that will bring tears to even the most serious of people.
