Does Youthink hold writing contests?
There are at least two writing contests in every issue. One is called our Question of the Month contest. The other writing contest is the Athlete of The Month, and is sponsored by The Dog’s Ear.

How can I get my picture in the paper?
You can send pictures of you with your friend(s) into two sections: School Life and Question of the Month. Simply email submit@youthink.ca with your photo and all the names of the students in the photo as well as the name of the school you attend. Victoria students must also fill out this form (link to Victoria PDF waiver – might have to also link to other waiver forms).

I’m not a strong writer, is there another way to participate?
You can act as a liaison for your school. Take surveys of your friends and peers, tell us what’s going on at your school (interesting fundraisers, accomplishments of your school, etc.) and the best part is you don’t have to be a great writer. Help as little or as much as you like, earn work-experience hours or not!

Looking for work experience?
You can earn hours at your school as a school liaison, or as a student journalist in our offices, as long as you go to a participating school, and as long as your work-experience teacher agrees. Work experience must be booked through a sponsor teacher.

Wondering if your school is a participating school?
With over 400 participating high schools in BC and Alberta, chances are your school is involved. If your school isn’t on the list, it is easy (and free) to become involved. Call us at 604-299-7311 to get involved or email submit@youthink.ca.

Why are there ads in Youthink?
The ads keep Youthink free. There is no government funding behind Youthink.
