B.D. Gottfried: The Warden’s Picnic

B.D. Gottfried's sound is so unique that it is its own genre.

B.D. Gottfried's fifth release is quite different from his previous albums. Compared to earlier releases, The Warden's Picnic is quite neutral sounding, musically speaking. It is the type of music that you need to listen to a few times before you start to enjoy it. Bill Gottfried, who is a singer, songwriter and producer, among other roles, could have varied the tones in his voice a bit more to make for more interesting tunes. However, the lyrics are well thought out and speak towards the theme of freedom. Pick up this CD solely for the intelligent lyrics - otherwise, you might want to stay away from this progressive rock album.
