Canadian band highlights the bleakness of the world with unforgiving honesty.
Upon opening Alexisonfire’s newest CD, most outstanding are the grim colours of the album art that is riddled with bleak newspaper headlines and severe images. But the politically charged air of the album doesn’t end there. The lyrics reflect a melancholy and hopeless image of society, never failing to reflect the worse and shying away from absolutely nothing. The controversial tracks merge into one another, creating one long string of dismal suggestion, expressed through fast-paced melodies and the fittingly harsh vocals of George Pettit. For those who are looking for an album that speaks exclusively of the unpleasant truth, look no further: Old Crows/Young Cardinals fits the bill.
