Saskatchewan harvests another great artist.
Andy Shauf managed to pack a lot of good music into 38 minutes. Darker Days, the Regina native’s short and sweet release, is reminiscent of anything but darkness, as the title suggests. Lilting melodies showcase Shauf’s vocal range and personal lyrics, while a multitude of acoustic rhythms stamp each track with a different blend of folky-pop. Shauf is responsible for the majority of the vocals as well as all of the instrumentals on the album, something that showcases his well rounded ability as an artist. Darker Days is a pleasant listen from a clearly talented musician who has yet to reach the height of his potential.
