New artist glows, but fails to dazzle.
Candice Chantrell’s debut album allows her entrance into the intensely competitive world of music, which may swallow her if she isn’t careful. A beautiful artist with an equally compelling singing voice, it would be very disappointing to see her remain in obscurity – although that may occur since her music lacks a distinctive quality to make it stand out from the crowd. Her album is a light pleasant listen, but none of her songs contains that spark that carries musicians to the top of the billboards. Still, it’s a good effort, and the result would make a nice, though not incredible, edition to any pop lover’s CD collection.
