The Hold Steady: storytellers of our time.

The Hold Steady, critically adored and revered by their fans, is also incredibly prolific: the band has released four albums in the last four years. Stay Positive continues their output of forceful guitars, sing-along choruses and narrative lyrics. Craig Finn talk-sings as he affectionately tells his characters stories: they smoke, drink, get lost and fall in love. A Springsteen for the modern age, his songs, which are incredibly descriptive and grand, provide the soundtrack for real life, gritty and true. The entire album is worthwhile, because as Craig sings on the title track, "it's one thing to start it with a positive jam, and it's another thing to see it all through."
