Church switches up his style, offering a fun, yet laid-back, party album.

For his second solo album, Jamaican-born Jarvis Church had the opportunity to make a change, and he took it. The former Philosopher Kings’ singer infused his old pop sound with his reggae roots, making his sophomore album much more rhythmic. Although he is no master lyricist, The Long Way Home is a fun listen, bringing dancehall thumping bass, R&B and soul groove together for a celebratory dance-off. Fans of Rihanna’s dance tracks will dig his quick beats.
