Small-town boys release radio-ready music.
When you think about Corinth, Mississippi, what comes to mind? Rolling rural hills? A population of about 14,000? Of course, you should also be thinking of Saving Abel, the band that stormed the rock charts with its self-titled album. Formed in 2004, the band started out small, but was eventually discovered by Virgin Records and producer Skidd Mills. Partnering with Skidd for its second album, Miss America, the band is back with the guys’ self-described “radio-ready” sound. Though giving much credit to the guys’ southern heritage for their musical style, Saving Abel has definitely taken to a sound first pioneered by the likes of Nickleback and Hinder. However, due to the decreasing mainstream popularity of the aforementioned bands, Saving Abel just might want to rethink its “radio-ready” label.
