Soulfly: Omen

3 Stars

Nu-metal becomes a bad omen

While other Soulfly heavy-metal CDs evoke a head-banging feel the band's latest CD, Omen, does not have the same feel. With Max Cavalera’s return, the album should have been better than ever; unfortunately, combining Marc Rizzo’s Brazilian flavour and Max Cavalera’s loud vocals, the result was more grunge genre than heavy metal. Ironically, song titles such as Great Depression and Mega Doom, might be foreshadowing the possible outcomes of releasing future nu-metal albums.
