Fresh out of Harvard and “loving everybody,” Chester French’s debut is top-notch pop.
This 60s style pop duo was signed to producer Pharrell Williams' music label upon graduating from Harvard University back in 2007. In their debut album, Love the Future, these guys easily float between indie rock, pop, and a retro feel that make them an easy listen for almost anyone. Love the Future is completely unpredictable and leaves listeners wondering what other tricks they have up their sleeves, whether it’s a track with Pharrell's hip hop fingerprints on it or a track with a synth-driven Beach Boys tone. The quirkiness to Chester French is prominent throughout the whole album, especially in the Latin and tap-infused song, Beneath the Veil. I’d recommend this CD to anyone who wants to try something different and fresh, because every track off of Love the Future is exactly just that.
