Remembering “the good old days” is overrated.
In the past few years, country music has undergone a significant evolution, as artists combine the meaningful messages of country songs with the catchy melodies of pop and rock music to create tunes that are more universally accepted. There are always a few diehards who like to cling to the good old days however, and this album is certainly a look back at that musical era. Between the lack of innovative melodies and the absence of memorable lyrics, the best that can be said about Clay Walker’s latest album is that it is familiar. And while there’s nothing wrong with sticking to a classic sound, there’s nothing very interesting about it either.
