Daughtry steers clear of sophomore slump with new album.
Not winning American Idol may have been the best thing that ever happened to Chris Daughtry. He formed a band, named it after himself, and they produced a debut album that sold four million copies. Now their second effort - Leave This Town showcases Daughtry’s powerhouse vocals and a striking blend of guitars. The record contains a few dark numbers like You Don’t Belong and Ghost Of Me, but is balanced by a symphony of flavourful sounds. Daughtry is not selling rockstar dreams, private jets and hilltop houses, and this may be the biggest hook. The album looks beyond the commercial cover and avoids sounding over produced, leaving its audience with a genuine adrenaline rush.
