Elisa: Dancing

3 stars

Passion and energy make for a quality album.

Soulful and fresh, Italian singer Elisa’s new album, Dancing, is a great easy listening album. The melodies and lyrics on tracks such as The Waves and Yashal evoke feelings of wanderlust and desire, while the charming title track is sweet and soft. Even Hallelujah, the often-covered Leonard Cohen tune, is made even more delicate by Elisa’s expressive and sincere voice. One objection that could be made about the album is that the tracks lack variety; every track is a soft and romantic ballad about love or heartache of some sort. Still, Elisa’s ballads are genuine enough to keep them from becoming tiring. Dancing is more than worth a listen.
