A tribute to lyrical poetry at its finest.
Frank Turner’s third release presents a creative mélange of clever lyrics, fiddles and thought-provoking themes. Sons of Liberty is the highlight of the album with an unusual combination of sea shanties, rants about governments and references to the 1381 English Peasants’ Revolt; what's more, the fiddle playing fits oddly well with the electric guitars. Richard Divine and The Road don’t trail far behind with much different feels but comparably high excitement factors. Is the album any good? Absolutely. But Poetry of the Deed is so much more than a feel-good album – it promises to leave you thinking, contemplating and pondering the poetry of life.
