Joss Stone: Colour Me Free!

3 Stars

Joss Stone offers up meaningful lyrics.

British soul singer and songwriter Joss Stone produces meaningful songs in her fourth studio album. Her songs reveal deep emotions and opinions, showing her true views on life, such as the track Governmentalist, which illustrates her stance about politics. Colour Me Free! features quite the musical talent, with saxophonist David Sanborn contributing his skills to the track I Believe It To My Soul and rapper Nas contributing to Governmentalist. Although the album contains some good music, some of the songs sound quite similar and lack originality. But with a mix of pop, soul, R&B, funk, hip-hop, and gospel sounds, there is a little bit of every style to please all fans.
