The Evaporators and Andrew W.K.: A Wild Pear

4 stars

Little EP crams in lots of fun.

A Wild Pear is a quick but satisfying taste of both the Evaporators and Andrew W.K. After its entertaining opening track, The Bombs in My Pants, The Evaporators head back about 40 years with a cover of Les Hou-Lops’ Oh Non. Andrew W.K. takes over with heavy guitars and accusatory lyrics in his rendition of Oh Canaduh by The Subhumans. He discusses his Canadian influences in an interview with Vancouver’s Nardwuar the Human Serviette, then proceeds to close the album with frenetic drumming and amusing lyrics in Don’t Sell Hot Dogs Tonight, originally by the Leather Uppers. This EP is a collision of Vancouver garage rock and 1980s punk, infused with lots of humour … all in 8.3 minutes!

Erika’s fave track: Oh Canaduh
