Music Spotlight: TV Heart Attack

Vancouver alt-rock band TV Heart Attack returns to the local music scene with Lost in the Sway. The six-track EP ranges from the catchy melodies of "AO" to the heavy bass lines of "Wolves." The varying music tastes of band members contributes to the album’s eclectic blend of modern indie rock and vintage ‘70s punk-pop. With a sound noticeably more mature than its debut album, TV Heart Attack showcases its ability to cross genre boundaries. “We’re somewhere in between [genres] doing our own thing,” says lead singer Jason Corbett.

Influence from the Vancouver musical landscape is prominent throughout Lost in the Sway, but the record still possesses a distinctive edge. Corbett admits that he does not like to be restricted by the indie stereotype, since the band’s versatility has contributed to a large portion of its success. “I like to write the music so it’s not hard to swallow,” he explains. “I’m not trying to make waves with it; I just want people to enjoy the message.”

TV Heart Attack’s honest approach to making music is evident in Lost in the Sway, and as the last track, "Nowhere Fast," fades out, the listener cannot help but thirst for more. According to Corbett, the band will not keep fans waiting. “We’re planning on doing five or six songs for an EP every year,” he confirms. “By September, we’re probably going to be back in the studio again and releasing something shortly after.”
