Patrick Watson: Wooden Arms

5 stars

Montreal’s Watson, delivers the goods on this stunning comeback album.

Patrick Watson’s latest album, Wooden Arms, is one of lulling melodies and beautiful lyrics. Watson’s breathy vocals are emotional, and his singing floats just above the music lending a reading-poetry-on-a-beach feel to the album. The title track, Wooden Arms, feels like a French folk song – beautiful poetry set to music – while Travelling Salesman’s guitar riffs are intriguing. Overall, this is a beautiful blend of classical music and indie rock worth listening to.
