The Script: The Script

4 stars

Sincere lyrics and melodies in The Script’s debut album prove anything but scripted.

The Script describes their smooth blend of genres as “music for the feet, heart and head.” The description captures their unique brand of pop perfectly. With both R ’n’ B and rock influences shining through, The Script is reminiscent of Maroon 5, while still maintaining their own distinct sound. From the socially aware We Cry, to the acoustic I’m Yours, to the edgier, electronically charged Rusty Halo, The Script delivers variation while still remaining approachable to audiences. They cover all aspects one looks for in a song: rhythms to make your feet tap, melodies to replay in your head, and lyrics that sing to your heart.

Emily’s fave track: Breakeven
