Youthink Magazine and Tom Lee Music are pleased to announce the Top 3 bands from BC’s Best Teen Band Contest! Congratulations to the finalists:
1) High Life Scenery – a pop punk-rock band from Burnaby and Vancouver
2) The Knots – a rock band from Coquitlam
3) Split the Silence – a progressive indie rock band from West Kelowna
The Top 3 bands were chosen by online voters and are now featured on the Youthink.ca Top 3 Band page where you can vote for your favourites.
Voting to rank the Top 3 begins March 8th and closes on April 16th. The band who receives the most votes will be declared the ONLINE winner. The online winner gets to play last for the final event, second place plays second and third place plays first (or, if they’d prefer, first place can choose whichever slot they’d like, second place chooses next and third place will receive the remaining slot).
The three finalists will compete live in a final showdown @ Tom Lee Music Hall in Vancouver on Saturday, May 1st, 2010, 2pm. A panel of industry judges will determine the ultimate winner of BC’s Best Teen Band and the winning band will be announced live and receive amazing prizes!

Re: Band Results
Yeah, I can sympathise with you about this but, in reality, most of the population resides in the Lower Mainland. Rep by Pop, my friend. This is not a political election where you have to have regional representation. If you want to beat the Big City guys, then you do it on TALENT.
Band contest?
If this is a teen BAND competition why are there solo artists?
Band Contest
Agreed. This should not have been allowed to happen. Organizers take note for next year. Of the two solo performers, at least one has access to a primo back up band. Connections are everything. This is not to take away from the talent of the solos...it just isn't right for a Best Band Contest.
As a Moscropian, I have to
As a Moscropian, I have to say that High Life Scenery better win : ) You guys are awesome and I'll be voting for you for sure!
???
can I please get a copy of the rules as there seems to be an issuse that needs to be resolved
band results
It is too bad that out of 10 bands 8 are from the vancouver area and only 2 from the interior maybe you should have called it a battle of the vancouver area bands
Band results
The judges picked who they believed were the best bands - had nothing to do with where they were from.
Yes but it seems that
Yes but it seems that there's a certain style they slanted towards and even their website doesn't have an area listed when you sign up that isn't lower mainland except for Prince George and Kamloops even though they have Calgary. Nothing for the other parts of this really big province. I'd like to know how old the judges were too and what their musical qualifications are.
I'm not speaking on behalf
I'm not speaking on behalf of Youthink nor do I know anything about how they went about this contest but as a spectator, the average person will agree that most of the bands that entered were probably from the Vancouver area. It's just a ratio and I'm positive they didn't pick music based on where anyone lives. The math shows that if more people from the Vancouver area apply, the odds of having more people from that area will be higher. Also just because you live an hour out of Vancouver in the suburbs, doesn't mean you're a "Vancouverite"
Not just for bands...
Hi Musicians!
I just wanted to clarify that solo artists can also enter this contest. As long as you play original music and you play an instrument (some exceptions will be made for hip-hop artists who use digital beats), you are eligible to enter. We are so excited to hear from you all!
